Friends of
Give Back Alexandria:
Thank you
all for joining us at Murphy’s Irish Pub last Monday for our Get Back
to Giving Back event. The kick-off introduced our 2010 Grantee
Partners – The Reading Connection and SCAN of Northern Virginia and
recognized past partners - Community Lodgings and Friends of the
Alexandria Mental Health Center. We were proud to present $1,000
checks to each of the former partners as part of an on-going legacy of
investment and support by Give Back. The Reading Connection and
Friends of the Alexandria Mental Health Center also received $7,500
grants from the Bubbles & Bluegrass fundraiser held earlier in the
summer. Be sure to check out pictures from our events on Facebook
– Give Back Alexandria.
Give Back announced a pledge to match donations up to $2,500 towards
the ACT Now Fund, a fund created to assist organizations with meeting
essential needs such as emergency financial, housing, food, clothing,
and medical/health assistance. We raised $500 at the Get Back to
Giving Event and are continuing to take donations.
Please pass
along your feedback on how we are doing and what we can do better to
support you and the community in which we live. Send us your
ideas at info@givebackalexandria.org,

Give
Back Alexandria is an initiative
of the Alexandria Community Trust. Our mission is to help more
individuals become
leaders in philanthropy by connecting them to innovative ways to get
involved
in solving the issues facing children, youth and families in Alexandria. We
are not another non-profit
organization, but instead we seek to partner with communities and
organizations to find strategic and collaborative solutions. Most
importantly,
we have fun while we are giving back.
